The Finance Lab at IIM-B is intended to serve the teaching and research needs of the IIM-B community. The temporary location of the Lab is the ground floor of the Library. Once the construction of the new building is completed, about 2000 square feet of space has been allotted for the lab.
At present, the Lab has 10 dual-Bloomberg terminals and new CPUs. Bloomberg Professional Services offers an integrated platform to disseminate real-time financial market news and data to leading decision makers in business, government and finance. This data and news platform is used by virtually every entity operating in the financial services industry both in India and abroad. Their Bloomberg for Education Initiative offers the same data and news platform for the classroom. Through it, students will learn to understand and analyze financial markets, assess economic scenarios and interpret key news events that impact the global economy. On the news front, the platform provides about 5000 original news stories each day, supplemented with over 30000 stories aggregated from other news sources. This coverage comes from 146 bureaus in 72 countries. On the data front, the platform provides coverage of over 45000 companies in 108 countries, with more than 2200 real-time fundamental data items and financial ratios available as well as 15000 different indices and over 100 metrics.
The Centre will have periodic training sessions for both students and faculty. See the Announcements page for details.
Please adhere to Lab policies (link) and posted on the premises to ensure that it remains a useful resource for all of us.
